Friday F-I-V-E!

Oh hello there.  I've been slacking on the ol' blog, came here to post, and realized I haven't blogged since last Friday.  Oops!  But all for good reason - we've been BUSY y'all!  The best kind of summer, non-stop busy.  Without further ado, here's a quick edition of the Friday Five...

Well... I came, I saw, I 10k'd!  Now, I've run 10k's and even a half marathon in the past, but I haven't attempted a race since having my babies.  I really felt ready and excited (and nervous!  60,000 people in one place gives me anxiety!).  And then Saturday morning it was pouring.  I hadn't even considered the weather being anything but sunny and hot.  My sister-in-law has run in the past and had a start time earlier than me, so my brother-in-law dropped me off in downtown Atlanta alone about 20 minutes before my bib time.  I was literally drenched within minutes of getting out of the car.  And then there was a lightning delay.  And I literally thought in my head that if they cancelled the race, I was going to take off running and get my 6.2 miles in, dadgummit.  Luckily we got the all-clear, and I kicked butt! As a matter of fact, about midway through the race I realized I wasn't pushing myself enough, and ended up sprinting the last mile and a half, clocking a 7 minute 48 second pace!  My average race pace was about 8 minutes and 30 seconds.  Woop!  And I even finished in the top 6% of all females who ran.  I had the absolute best time, even in the pouring down rain, and now I definitely have the race bug.

And we also had the best weekend in Atl!!  Fireworks, playtime with cousins, a celebratory post-race margarita and lunch at bartaco (yum!), golf for the boys, too many drinks, s'mores, too much food, and even more fireworks.  It really was so, so fun.

And after we got back from Atlanta, my BF from NC and her precious little girl came into town for a few days!  And if you want to know how much fun we had, or how much I miss her, or how much I adore sweet OG - well, then you should've seen me when they drove away yesterday.  I was a wreck! CK even said, "It really hurts our feelings that they're leaving, doesn't it?"  Yinds... she is one of my most favorite people in the whole world.  And we really packed in as much as we could in just a few days - some swimming, running, open gym play time, back porch happy hours, a trip to the aquarium, and a mama's night out.  The.best.

If you haven't heard, Target has the BEST diaper/baby sale going on right now.  If you buy diapers, you get Target gift cards, and if you spend a certain amount of money on anything baby-related (including diapers), you also get Target gift cards.  So today I stocked up on about a million diapers and tons of baby puffs, mum-mums, organic squeeze pouches, wipes, etc. and it ended up being an incredible deal.  I know a lot of Target stores are running low on certain diaper sizes, and I believe the sale ends tomorrow - so take advantage!

Can we please talk about the fact that my little boy is 8 months old?  How in the world has it already been 8 months?!  I am absolutely obsessed with him, and being his mama brings me so much joy.  He's rocking his helmet, completely unfazed by it despite the fact that it's about a trillion degrees outside and his head gets so sweaty (and stinky!).  He loves being held, which is completely different than what CK was like at this age.  However, when you do put him down, he is NONSTOP.  Army crawling and rolling all over the place.  Dude is so fast and is into anything and everything.  He loves to drop things and watch them hit the floor, over and over and over again.  He continues to be obsessed with his Sophie teether, probably because he got another tooth this month - his top right front tooth!  He waves hello and bye bye, and still sucks his first two left fingers.  He absolutely loves to swim and go under water!  He thinks my dance moves are hilarious and has decided that sleeping through the night is for the birds.  He drinks water like a champ through both a sippy and straw cup, and so far he is a rockstar at feeding himself "real" food:  puffs, yogurt melts, mum mums, bananas, eggs, strawberries, cheese, corn, blueberries, raspberries, pancakes... the list goes on and on.  Mostly he spends his time wrapping me even more around his chubby little fingers, and I thank God every single day for allowing me to be Everette's mom.  He is the sweetest little guy who has no clue just how much he is loved. <3

Have a great weekend!!
