Friday Favorites

I'm here with a quick edition of Friday Favorites because my brain and exhaustion level can't handle much more than that!  HA!

So here are a few things I'm currently loving...

*Chatbooks!  If you use Instagram, you HAVE to use Chatbooks.  It's a program that prints your IG photos into a book once you have 60.  You can name the book, organize them, delete photos you don't want in your book, etc.  Instagram has always been my most favorite form of social media, and now it serves an even better purpose!  I have a whole shelf of Chatbooks in our living room, and love when I get a new one in the mail!

*My handy husband.  Seriously.  I know I take for granted just how handy he is, but lately he has been busting his butt around this house while we try to get into baby-mode, and I am just so lucky he can do any and everything and fix any and everything!

*Bumble & Bumble All-Style Blow Dry Creme.  This stuff has been life-changing for me!  Seriously!!  Last time I got my haircut, my stylist used this before blow drying and told me it would extend the life of my wash.  I have the thinnest, finest, straightest, most greasy-prone hair and have always had to wash it pretty much everyday.  Or wear a hat.  Until this.  I am obsessed!  I can go several days without washing now if I use this and blow dry my hair.  As a pregnant mama of two?  LIFE-CHANGING!

*Shaved ice in the summer.  Bonus points if I'm eating with my crew while sitting on the tailgate.

*Netflix.  I've said it before, but I love getting hooked into a show and being able to watch episode after episode.  T and I just started Breaking Bad, and I just caught up to the current episode of Scandal.  What should I start next?  Any suggestions??

*The Olympics!  I am all about some Olympics, and usually grieve for awhile when they end, so sad that I have to wait another four years until they're back.  I've been watching as many of the trials as possible - with gymnastics being a personal fave - and can't wait until the real deal starts next month!

*Snapchat!  I'm somewhat new to the Snapchat game, but I think it's so fun!  Want to follow our shenanigans?  You can find me under jmpeele.

*Peaches.  My current pregnancy obsession.  I could eat several a day, but then there wouldn't be any for the kids, and they love them, too!

*Nesting!  It sure is exhausting, having this underlying, nonstop drive to clean ALL the things and purge ALL the things.  But I love when the nesting phase of pregnancy comes along.

*BEACH TRIPS!!!!  Which is where we're headed tomorrow for a full, glorious week.  It's our annual BLOMPS beach trip, and this year we will have twelve adults and nine kiddos in one house.  Let the fun chaos begin... And I'll be back around these parts post-vacation - hopefully a little more tan and definitely a lot more pregnant!

YAWILFT

In 2002 I met a cute boy who wore a backwards hat... I got lost in his brown eyes and dimples, and never looked back.

Lucky for me, I got to marry that cute boy eight years ago today!  He truly is my everything, and I love that I get to do life by his side.  We've been through the happiest and saddest times of our lives together, and I know without a doubt that we can handle whatever life throws at us.

Marriage is awesome.  But marriage is work.  And I am forever grateful knowing I am married to a man who will hold my hand while we put in the work, together, for the rest of our lives.

So happy, happy anniversary to my most favorite person in the whole wide world.  You have exceeded all of my dreams, and have given me a life I always imagined was too good to be true.  A life together that started in...

5 on Friday!

Woohoo for a short week and Happy Friday!
O N E
First things first...
My stepsister had her baby!!  Sweet Samuel Owen Stickley was born on July 5th, and I am already dying to snuggle him and all of his squishy-ness.  I am so incredibly excited for my sis and her husband, as this is their first... and there is just nothing in the world like the moment you become a parent. <3  So congrats, Shelbs and Jason.. save me some Sam snuggles!

Can we talk about how much I already miss one of the most important women in my life?  My best friend, Lindsey (aka Yinds), came for a visit this past week, driving all the way from NC with her little mini-me (my adopted niece, OG).  I have missed them like crazy since the moment we said a tearful goodbye in my Winston-Salem driveway, and am forever grateful to have someone like her in my life.  You know, the kind of someone who knows you and loves you just the same?  Who you know would do anything for you?  Who makes every minute of your life feel special?  That's Yinds!  And we had such a great time together while she was here... We ate and drank and swam and played and paraded and movie'd and celebrated the 4th and fitness'd and napped and laughed and oh how I love her.  I'm already counting down the day until I get to see her this fall!

Well, we finally got the diagnosis for sweet Bailey - Cushing's Disease (which is what we thought it was all along).  Anyone have experience with a dog having Cushing's?  We're trying to learn all the ins and outs of the disease, and she started her daily medicine today (and helloooooo, expensive).  She'll be closely monitored while we figure out the right dosage, and hopefully we'll get our happy, energetic, non-obese dog back sooner than later!

I'm happy to report we're making some progress with #3's nursery!  It turned into a much bigger project when we decided to go ahead and start the transition to E's big boy room in order to save money and reuse most of the nursery furniture.  The cool part about this is that TJ has been saving his childhood furniture his whole life, waiting to one day have a son.  So he's spent hours sanding and refinishing that furniture for Everette, followed by repainting the nursery furniture to match the new nursery decor.  Have I ever mentioned how handy (and awesome) my better half is?!  Unfortunately, E's big boy room is going to be kind of inbetween his nursery/big boy decor for awhile, which is hard for my type-A personality.  But, first world problems. amiright?!  Anyway, this weekend we - and by we I mean he - will be painting the nursery walls, then hopefully we can actually start setting it all up.  It's making it all feel SO real!

And speaking of progress, the kids and I are making quite a dent in our summer bucket list!  I'm trying to soak up our time together before I'm too big and miserable (and HOT!  y'all, this HEAT!!)... and also, CK starts preschool in just four weeks!!  Isn't that crazy?!  I know she will absolutely love school, but it honestly puts a knot in my throat to think of her going back already.  So with that upon us, we've been checking things off of our list (like our donut picnic below) - and we have plenty of fun upcoming summer plans in the works!

I hope your summer has been as fun and lazy and busy and slow as ours, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Banff Springs!

This blog post is wayyyyy overdue, and I am so excited tell you all about our Canadian getaway to Banff Springs!

Let me back up...I earned an all-expense paid trip to Banff through my awesome work-from-home gig (HASHTAG SHAMELESS PLUG... but really, the best job ever).  At the time, I'd never even heard of the place.  When T and I started telling people we were going there, so many of them were like "Banff is on my bucket list!"  And now I know why.

It was ahhhh-mazing.  I've said it a million times, but pictures really do not do it justice.

Here is how we spent our four days in a Canadian wonderland...

Up bright and early and at the airport by 4:30am... Banff, here we come!

As soon as we landed I had to start snapping pictures of it all...

These were taken from the window of the bus, which met us at the airport in Calgary and drove us to Banff.

We kicked off the trip at a Welcome Reception, where we were able to eat and drink to our hearts' content!

Pictures taken from our hotel balcony.  Incredible!

The next day, we were off to the convention center, which was right across the street from the hotel.

We had TONS of free time... time to explore, time to go on some excursions, time to play - but there were a few information/inspiration sessions sprinkled in, which were SO awesome.

Early morning picture in front of our hotel!

It really was like staying in a castle!!

After a full buffet breakfast and listening to some awesome speakers, T and I set off on one of the activities we'd chosen from the list they provided: massages!  Best part?  They had a big ol' pregnancy pillow with a hole cut out and I GOT TO LAY ON MY STOMACH.

After our massages we napped in our room for a bit.  When we were done being lazy, we showered and decided to walk to downtown Banff, where we explored and ate and shopped...

Then we headed back to the hotel where we had dinner reservations at one of the twelve restaurants on site.  We decided to do a long, four-course meal of fondue, and it was DELICIOUS.  And yes, that's a big ol' non-alcoholic beer.

After dinner, we explored some more around the grounds of the hotel, and found our way to the beautiful Bow Falls:

And because we still didn't want the day to end, we went back to the spa for a late night dip in the mineral pools.  It was so awesome in there!  Being pregnant, I wasn't able to enjoy the pools as much as T, but they had these three different pools full of different minerals that were heated to different temperatures!  So cool.

And again, the VIEW!!

When we got back to our room late that night, we had surprises waiting for us - a North Face jacket for both T and me, courtesy of R+F!  And let me tell you, this was just the beginning of the constant gifts we were given throughout our trip.  Like I said, we were absolutely SPOILED!

The next morning, another full breakfast buffet.. with a view, of course!

And then we were bused out to Kananaskis Country to enjoy some barbecue on a ranch:
The old ski slopes from the Olympics!  (Can't remember what year...)
 New friends!

After lunch, it was time for a rafting trip through the Canadian Rockies!  Unfortunately, my pregnant belly and I had to sit this one out.  But T had a blast!

And while he rafted, I was back exploring the adorable downtown area.

Once T was back from his adventure, we decided to venture back to town yet again for some dinner.  We ate at a yummy restaurant that overlooked one of the main streets:

And there was NO way I was leaving Canada without experiencing one of their signature pastries, also known as a Beaver Tail.  It was all kinds of delicious.

The next morning, I soaked up the king-sized bed, my cup of coffee, and the Today show as long as I possibly could!

And then I went to our last session, where four of the most important people in the company sat on the stage and answered any and every question we wanted to ask them.  How cool is that?!

It was our last day, and after talking to quite a few people we knew we couldn't leave Alberta without seeing Lake Louise.  So we buddied up with some new friends, rented a car, and set out on our road trip...  We grabbed lunch at a restaurant overlooking Lake Louise, then explored a little bit, even breaking into a room on the top floor so we could get a good view of it all.  The weather didn't exactly cooperate the way we'd hoped, but we were all still so glad we went.  It was breathtaking!  And we saw a bear on the way home, just hanging out on the side of the road. AND I think we all laughed harder than we'd laughed in a long, LONG time.  Love these people!

Then it was back to Banff, where we got all dressed up for the Farewell Dinner...
I only had a tiny sip, because, CHEERS.

The night ended with desserts overlooking the gorgeous mountains, and plenty of drinks (that I'll be able to enjoy NEXT TIME!), and lots of dancing.  I shook around this big ol' baby bump as much as I could until my body was like STOP.  And then I dragged TJ off of the dance floor and almost made him carry me back to our room, where we collapsed on the bed, reminiscing about our four days in a Canadian paradise...

And also, a HUGE thank you to MeMe, for keeping the kids alive and happy and fed and giggling while we were away...

We really and truly had the absolute best time.  We were sitting in the airport, waiting for our first flight to Canada when I said to T, "I feel like we've talked more in the past few hours than we have in the past few months!"  It was so nice to get away, just the two of us.  He is my absolute best friend, and it was such a good reminder of how awesome we are as a duo, just us two, sans the chaos of life.  We don't get to do stuff like this often (or, ever), and I don't think we took a single minute of it for granted.  <3
